Brewery of the Month: Torrside Brewing
This month we presented our first Brewer of the Month, the New Mills born and bred brewery; Torrside.
One of the most unique breweries in the United Kingdom, Torrside has been a favourite and staple both within the shop and behind the bar. The brewery's unusal name is taken from the Torrs, the 70-foot-deep gorge cut by the Rivers Goyt & Sett, that New Mills stands above and around.
Founded by three homebrewers with a passion for crafting really good beer, Torrside is an unusual one in the sense that unlike some of the other breweries, it doesn't have a range of core beers, instead choosing to have fun making new styles and seeing which are the most popular with their loyal fanbase.
Flagship styles include well-hopped pales, as well as smoked beers and their infamous 'Monsters' series - a limited edition run of barleywine beers, ranging from an imperial stout, porter and a Imperial DIPA. They offer bottle, cask, and keykegs; and all of their beer is vegan, as well as being natural "real ale" (conditioned by live yeast in the vessel it's served from).
Currently we're running a varied selection across both draught and bottles from the fridges and shop (to takeaway). We're glad to be supporting not only a local brewery and business, but also a fantastic brewer that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what real ale is.
Our Brewer of the Month will be running until the end of March, come back soon to see which brewer will be our next pick!
