On 6th July, we’re delighted to welcome Marisa Cavadas of Cabriz, alongside Marta Mateus Bowers of Marta Vine, for a special evening celebrating the wines and heritage of Portugal.
Taking place at Harvey Leonards, the evening will feature a guided tasting of six exceptional wines, paired with food, for £35 per person. These tastings are always a brilliant opportunity to discover more about what goes into your glass, hear the stories behind the wines, and meet the people who bring them to life.
Meet the Hosts
Marisa Cavadas is closely involved with promoting and representing Cabriz Wines, helping bring the character and heritage of Portugal’s Dão region to wine lovers around the world. Passionate about Portuguese wine and native grape varieties, she offers a deeper understanding of the traditions, terroir and craftsmanship behind Cabriz’s wines. Her approachable and engaging style has made her a respected ambassador for one of Portugal’s best-known wineries.
Alongside Marisa is Marta Mateus Bowers, a familiar face to many of our regular guests. Marta founded Marta Vine in 2010, and through her passion for Portuguese wine and culture has built one of the UK’s most respected specialists in Portuguese and sustainable wines. Working closely with small, family-run producers, Marta Vine focuses on wines that reflect authenticity, regional identity and environmentally conscious winemaking, including organic, vegan and low-intervention styles.

About Cabriz Wines
Based in the historic Dão region, Cabriz is one of Portugal’s leading wine producers, renowned for elegant, balanced wines that showcase the character of the region. Combining traditional Portuguese grape varieties with modern winemaking techniques, the winery has earned an international reputation for producing approachable, high-quality wines with real identity.
The vineyards themselves are situated within one of Portugal’s most distinctive wine-growing landscapes. Surrounded by the Serra da Estrela and Caramulo mountain ranges, the Dão region benefits from a unique microclimate, protected from harsh Atlantic weather. Warm, dry summers and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, helping to create wines with freshness, complexity and balance.
Many of the vineyards sit between 400 and 800 metres above sea level on predominantly granite soils, which contribute the mineral character and elegance that Dão wines are known for. Cabriz works extensively with indigenous Portuguese grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Aragonez and Encruzado, allowing each wine to express the true identity of the region.
Stretching across dozens of hectares between the Dão and Mondego rivers, the estate combines traditional viticulture with modern winemaking practices to preserve fruit quality while maintaining the finesse and structure that define great Dão wines.
Whether you’re already a fan of Portuguese wine or completely new to the region, this promises to be a fantastic evening of great wine, food and conversation.
