An orange wine made from the Grunspitz variety, Nachbil believe theirs is the only dedicated grafted Grunspitz vineyard in the world, so how’s that for provenance?
 
A thick-skinned, small-berried regional oddity, this really is unique. Handpicked, dry farmed organically grown grapes with nothing added -macerated on skins for 4 days in open vats and spontaneously fermented. The wine was stored for 6 weeks in 3 amphorae with different porosity. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
 
Pale amber in appearance, quite obviously an orange wine. Intriguing and complex aromas of Seville orange and rose petal with savoury, slightly nutty notes. Structured and assertive on the palate, the initial tannic grip soon gives way to a ripe, textural palate with compelling minerality, dried apricot and citrus peel flavours and an appetisingly tangy finish.

A great companion for marinated poultry dishes and stews or a lamb and apricot tagine.
