Although the Girards have vines growing in all three of Sancerre's major soil types, this wine is soed from two exceptional vineyards of Silex (flint) soil. Grapes from old vines were hand-picked and gently pressed, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was made by Philippe Girard, Michel Girard's son, and we decide the blend with him for this Boutinot selection to reflect the very unique Silex terroir and character.
 
Philippe Girard's Silex Sancerre opens with ripe fruit and sherbet lemon tones. The full palate is lively and expressive with pronounced minerality, super concentrated ripe fruit, a touch of smokiness, and clean, citrus acidity. A final note of stone fruit is rounded off by a long, long finish that makes this a beautifully fresh wine.
